ECOTERM Solution

Termites have a major impact on the longevity of cables throughout many parts of Australia, particularly in the warmer climate areas. All termites eat plant fiber (typically wood) to derive the cellulose and nutrients they need to live. Obstacles to food sources, including cable, are therefore eaten and removed.

Utilising more than 50 years of experience with termite resistant cables, Nexans Olex has developed a new generation of termite barrier we refer to as ECOTERM.

The ECOTERM termite barrier tape applied within the construction of the outer sheath of power cables provides excellent protection from termites.

ECOTERM is a low cost, a non-chemical solution that has comparable performance characteristics to nylon. It is demonstrably more effective than systems reliant on chemical additives for protection and does not have any of the OH&S or Environmental concerns related to these products.

ECOTERM barrier is fully compliant with the requirements of AS/NZS 1429.1
